Privacy Statement
This Privacy Statement is currently under review but the detail below describes how your personal data is currently processed by SOCAP Europe.
The Society of Consumer Affairs Professionals in Europe (SOCAP) is an association of members from across Europe. SOCAP holds information about its members, and information about non-members who attend SOCAP organised events or communicate with the SOCAP Office.
The SOCAP Office is managed by a chief executive appointed by the SOCAP Board. The current cheif executive is based in England and must comply with the UK's Data Protection Act, which is the UK's law that also implements the E.U.'s directives on Data Privacy.
What Personally Identifiable Information is Collected?
SOCAP members' contact information at their place of work
This includes name, the company/organisation that they work for, their Job Title, address, telephone number and email. A password is issued to each member and is held on file.
Where a booking for a SOCAP event is made,contact information is also collected. In addition, if the person booking the event requests to pay by credit card, their payment details are temporarily held to process payment.
Visitors to the SOCAP web site who subscribe to updates are asked to provide their email address, name, Job Title and company/organisation that they work for.
How the Information is Used
Information held by SOCAP is used to communicate with members (and subscribers) about news and SOCAP events. The information is also used to process membership, plan and organise events (e.g. annual subscription renewals and bookings).
A summary of a member's details is made available to other SOCAP members in the Members Directory. The summary contains the member's name, Job Title and company/organisation worked for, location, and telephone number and email address. Members can opt out from having their details made available in this way by updating their membership record online. The availability of this information to members is to help the exchange of ideas, expertise and opinions, and should remain private amongst SOCAP members.
SOCAP DOES NOT SELL OR SHARE PERSONAL INFORMATION with any third party organisation for that organisation's own use.

The SOCAP Office will correct any mistakes highlighted to them.

All visits to the SOCAP web site are logged, but these records do not hold personally identifiable data. These logs form statistical reports that are used to review the SOCAP web site in terms of (as an example) which pages are popular, what browsers are used (e.g. Internet Explorer or Mozilla), advertising banner impressions and click-through rates, and IP address. The IP address often helps identify the country from where socapeurope.org was accessed.
Cookies
Cookies are used to authenticate members logging into the Members Area of the web site. The cookie is removed from the computer workstation when the member logs out of the Members Area, or closes their Internet session.
