SOCAP Canada began in 1979 as a chapter of the US organization, Society of Consumer Affairs Professionals in Business. In 1984, SOCAP Canada, SOCAP Italia, SOCAP U.K. and several other groups became affiliated with SOCAP US and formed separate organizations. In 2000, SOCAP Canada along with SOCAP UK and SOCAP Europe joined forces with SOCAP US to form an international association. And, SOCAP International was born.

SOCAP Canada's membership directory, revised regularly, gives members an up-to-date "who's who" of the consumer affairs profession in Canada. It's a valuable resource where colleagues can find solutions to common problems.

SOCAP Canada holds monthly business meetings and two full-day professional development seminars annually. SOCAP Canada helps to promote conferences and technology forums hosted by SOCAP US by encouraging members to attend these outstanding events.
