Welcome to Socapie from your Chairman Angie Court

It was with great pleasure and excitement that I took on the responsibility of Chair from Graham Hardy, who had held this role admirably for the past 4 years until October 2006.

My ‘day job’ is Director of Customer Service for Avis Europe Plc, and this appointment is particularly special to us in Avis Europe, because as some of you may remember as far back as 1991, Linda Lash our previous Director of Customer Satisfaction also held this Chair.

I have been a member now for more than 10 years and also part of the Board for most of that time. I am so pleased to have found Socap.

When I first left the front line in operations with Avis to head up the UK Customer Service centre in their HQ, I had a new world opened up to me – most of it was very strange and challenging. Socap UK, as it was then in 1998, lessened this confusion for me and I am eternally grateful to the other Socap members I met then for their support and shared ideas to help me continuously improve in that role. I truly felt I had made friends and when I needed to bounce an idea or just feel I was not alone in trying my best for the customers – my new Socap colleagues were there for me.

These people are now really my friends and we have shared and supported each other in the past and will do so in the future too. To me it has felt like another family – a support network in truth.

Now as Chairman for Socap in Europe, and also holding a more international post for Avis, I hope to offer consistency in my delivery to you from a practitioner point of view and provide support for you by being involved in and by encouraging as many of you as possible to attend and join our various offerings. I hope you will find new friends too.

For example, I head up a regular networking session on the subject of customer satisfaction metric Net Promoter- and if you don't know what it's about - come and find out from me and your colleagues in Socapie who already use this metric.

I have also refreshed our monthly networking events at various members premises, where presentations and tours are offered as well as that well earned cup of tea and finding new friends time.

To read what has happened at these events – you can view the past newsletters here.

I look forward to meeting and sharing ideas or providing empathy and tea with you in the not too distant future. Come and find me – I’ll no doubt be near the tea pot and chatting!
